How do I use Scrubly on Mac for Outlook 2011

Just put Outlook 2011 for Mac on my Macbook and downloaded my Windows Outlook contacts - lots of duplicates. Trying to use Scrubly to clean it up. If I download the Scrubly for MAC version it offers to scrub Contacts for Mac or Outlook for Windows - no Outlook for Mac. I can't download the Outlook for windows version as it's a .msi file and not compatible with MAC. How do I scrub Outlook 2011 for Mac, am I missing something?

Also will it work with 10.9 Mavericks?

Hi Mike,

Thanks for your support note. We really appreciate you using our app Scrubly.

Currently, the Scrubly Mac Client only works with Mac Address Book and does not directly support Outlook 2011 for Mac. Unfortunately, Microsoft does not allow 3rd party developers to directly access Outlook 2011 contact data.

The good news is that it's possible to use Scrubly to clean up your Outlook 2011 contacts, but requires a bit of a work around.

OPTION 1: EXPORT AND IMPORT

The first option involves exporting your Outlook 2011 contacts into a Tab Delimited Text file and then importing that contact .txt file into Mac Address Book. Once imported, you can use Scrubly to remove duplicate contacts.

After your contacts are clean, delete your Outlook 2011 contacts (we recommend you back these up first just in case. Also, be sure that any syncing is turned off). Export your scrubbed Address Book contacts as a vCard file and then drag the vCard file from your desktop to the Contacts list in Outlook 2011. Your clean contacts will import back into Outlook 2011.

OPTION 2: SET UP SYNCING BETWEEN OUTLOOK 2011 AND MAC ADDRESS BOOK

We have two blog posts on this topic here:

https://www.scrubly.com/blog/index.php/2011/10/how-to-use-scrubly-to-remove-duplicate-contacts-from-outlook-2011-for-mac/

https://www.scrubly.com/blog/index.php/2011/01/how-to-sync-outlook-2011-for-mac-with-mac-address-book/

Also, if you like video, you can watch how to set up the process here: http://youtu.be/v6z8QnqbaSY

If you follow the steps either to manually export and import or as outlined in these two blog posts, Scrubly will do the job of cleaning up your Outlook 2011 contacts.

I hope this helps, if we can help further, please let us know.

Best,

Bob

Anyway to download a CSV file?

Hi Thomas, thanks for your note about downloading a CSV file for a Mac Contacts backup. At this point we do not have the converter in place to go from VCF to CSV. There are several products on the market that do this for you, some free/shareware, but we have not tested any specifically.

I found this Apple Support Community post here that might be of help:
https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2648039?tstart=0

You can download a VCF backup file from Scrubly using the Restore Backup feature on the Dashboard.

I hope this is of help.

Thanks!
