How to Install, Enable and Disable Outlook 2013 Add-ins

Microsoft Outlook 2013 gives you the ability to download and install software, commonly called “add-ins” or “plugins”, that creates additional functionality inside of Outlook.

If you do a quick search for Outlook add-ins you will find hundreds of add-in programs; unfortunately, many of these do not work with the latest release of Outlook 2013. Before trying to download an add-in check its technical details to make sure the program supports Outlook 2013.

How to install an add-in into Outlook 2013:

Some add-ins run a setup.exe file that automatically installs the new add-in into Outlook. The only thing you need to do after running the setup.exe folder is restart Outlook after installing.

Other add-ins do not ship with an auto-install and may need to be saved and added to Outlook manually. Follow these steps to manually install an add-in:

1. Download the Add-in file into the directory for Add-ins in Outlook. The add-in folder will most likely be located under the Users folder located in the C:\Users\(Name)\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\AddIns.

2. Open Outlook 2013

3. Select the File tab and click Options.
