How to Use Flyover With Apple Maps on iOS 8

Maps on iOS 8 is a fantastic app for helping you get around town on foot or by car. And now Apple Maps Flyover, a new Maps feature Apple introduced with iOS 8, makes it even better.

Flyover allows you to pick select cities around the world, and if a flyover is available you get a grand, 3-D aerial tour. Whether you’re actually in the city and would like to get a better sense of the layout or you’re sitting at home and you just want to experience a bird’s-eye view of, say, the great cities of Europe, this is a pretty cool feature.

Let’s take a look at how to use Flyover on your iOS device. Shall we go to Paris?

Using Flyover on your iOS 8 device is pretty straightforward. Here are the steps.

1. Tap the Maps app on your iPhone or iPad.
2. In the search field type Paris, France. If a flyover is available, you will see the following: “3-D Flyover Tour of Paris.”
3. Click Start.

Try other cities to see if Flyover is available and have fun with it. I just flew over New York City and Rome. Very cool! Below is a video of Flyover in action.
